Finally! It feels like a lifetime since there has been something to get excited about. While life is still far from normal I will take what I can get. The PGA leads the way this week and I could not be more thankful! 16 of the world’s top 20 players will tee it up in Fort Worth to give us 4 days of a distraction. Let’s see who we think will be there at the end as well as a value outside the top 10.
Our Pick to Win
Jon Rahm: Rahm has 3 PGA wins to his credit. When it comes to Colonial last year he actually missed the cut. But in his two previous trips faired much better coming within a shot of winning in 2017. He was playing as well as anyone before the lockdown with a runner up and a 3rd place finish to his credit. His largest obstacle this week will be his own temper. If he keeps it together it could all come together Sunday with a win. Rahm could be taking over the world #1 ranking.
Three Long Shots
When you hear the word long shot at first your mind may go to some obscure names. But there are some great players who seem to have been left behind this week. All three are capable of winning if they play to their own standard.
Justin Rose ( 45-1 ) Yes 45-1 for one of the most consistent players of this past decade. Rose has switched back to Taylor Made and has had 90 days to get used to the new sticks. Currently down in the world rankings, this could start the walk back up.
Jason Day ( 65-1) I am not good enough to worry about what clubs I play let alone the type of grass I play on. Nobody has been a better player on bentgrass the past 100 rounds then Day. He also is healthy again for the first time in over a year. Before his injuries, he was one of the best in the world.
Ryan Palmer ( 80-1 ) This is Palmer’s home court. Not to compare him with Tiger Woods but you saw a few weeks back how a player gets an additional layer of comfort knowing the track inside and out. Not to mention he does have 2 top 10’s in his last 4 attempts here
