As Phillies fans this wasn’t the weekend we hoped for, missing a big opportunity to capitalize on the Mets. Yesterday was the worst of it. Leaving guys in scoring position multiple times. Zach Wheeler didn’t pitch that well. 5ks allowed 9hits, walk, and giving up a Home run to Daniel Vogelbach put the nail in the coffin on yesterday’s game. Now only falling back to the third wildcard spot. Only 1.5 over the Brewers. Phillies’ defense really didn’t do Zach Wheeler any favors! This looked like April Phillies baseball again. The Phillies haven’t scored in their last 18 innings! Hit less in their last 16 innings. However, you factor in their battling without their number one slugger. Lost weekend.

We thought that this was going to be a series win especially with us taking game 1 on Friday, knowing Aaron Nola and Zach Wheeler was going to pitch the next two games and it didn’t pan out that way. Nola vs DeGrom put on a pitchers duel clinic. Nola went 8ks 4 hits and allowed one walk. Jacob DeGrom had ice running through his veins 10ks and only 2 hits.
Yesterday was a complete debacle. The Met’s offense took advantage of this fatigue-looking defense and had them paying the piper for too. My two-part question is Can Rhys Hoskins step up in big games? Should have traded him at the trade deadline??? We need to take care of business in Cincinnati. The Mets are looming with a four-game set this weekend. The Mets by the way are 17-5 since the All-star break! We can’t let them come into our house and rock us! We need playmakers right now!!! Lost weekend.
