Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL) Retro Game Of The Week

A very big thank you to RetroLax for originally posting this game on YouTube.

Check them out at for more retro stories.

It’s April 8th, 1995 and the defending champion Philadelphia Wings (7-1), looking to repeat, were facing the upstart cinderella Rochester Knighthawks (4-4) in their first year in the league (replacing the Detroit Turbos), in the 1995 MILL finals at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia beat Buffalo 19-16 in their semi-final game to get to the big game, while Rochester outlasted the Boston Blazers in a hard fought 10-8 gem of a game.

The big story in this game was the Gait Brothers being on opposing sides…who would be the victorious one?

Philadelphia had Gary Gait (MVP of the league for 1995), Tom Marechek, Kevin Finneran, and Scott Gabrielson, with Dallas Eliuk in net.

Rochester countered with Paul Gait (all time MILL leading scorer), Chris Driscoll, Randy Mearns, and Tim Soudan, with Steve “Chugger” Dietrich in net.

This back and forth game had the Gait brothers match eachother step for step, each with five goals in regulation time, sending this to OVERTIME!!

You don’t want to miss this one!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy this game in it’s entirety!
