MLS is Back Tournament

The MLS is coming back in a tournament like form called MLS is Back Tournament. The tournament will feature all of the teams playing in the MLS as the league attempts to continue their season that was stop from the COVID-19 outbreak. This was actually the second time an MLS season was interrupted as the last time was in 2001 and games were halted as a result of the 9/11 attacks.

The tournament will feature 25 teams across the MLS. FC Dallas was just dropped from the tournament because 10 players were tested positive for COVID-19. The rest of the league will continue to play in Florida. The tournament starts out with a group phase as teams will play others in their group. The tournament will continue with a knockout tournament. This will resemble the typical FIFA World Cup format.

The winner of the tournament will have a spot for the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League. The spot that will be taken would originally be for the Supporters Shield (which was the team with the most points in the league).
