MLW presented Never Say Never there debut live event on Fite TV Saturday Night. Never Say Never was live from the historic 2300 arena formally known as the ECW arena on the corner of Swanson and Ritner. With MLW now on Fite for live events. New fans will have access to the MLW brand and live events. Never Say Never was an amazing welcome to the new streaming platform. This card had 6 matches in total. With four title matches taking place. MLW put on an event Saturday night that had something for wrestling fans of every genre. Whether you enjoy hardcore, technical, or an almost 300-pound man doing a Frankensteiner off-the-top rope to an almost 400-pound man. MLW Never Say Never delivered to the fans every step of the way.

I have been at the 2300 many times in my life the crowd at this event was some of the loudest fans I heard inside this building ever. Fatu and Tankman got the crowd going early with amazing back-and-forth action. Fatu was able to retain his title. However, Tankman pushed Fatu to his limits and Fatu showed his respect post-match. Fans who didn’t see this card Saturday night should check out the whole 6-match card replay on Fite. Let’s take a look at the main event and Co-main event on the night.

Tag Team Title Match

The 2300 Arena is infamous for violence. This past Saturday at MLW that past was brought back to life. When the MLW tag title’s where on the line. The Calling’s RSP and Akira took on The Samoan Swat Team Juicy Finau and Lance Anoa’i. In a fan’s bring the weapons match. RSP and Akira are no strangers to the hardcore game. Cutting their teeth early on in the deathmatch game. This match included every weapon imaginable. Trash cans, tables we even had barbwire. Two big spots in the match came involving tables.
The first was when Akira was able to drive Juicy into a table positioned outside the ring. Grumbling the table under the weight of Juicy. The second which brought the end of the match involved RSP and Lance. RSP and Lance were positioned on the top turnbuckle. Ricky was able to DDT Lance through a table positioned in the middle of the ring off the top turnbuckle. RSP was able to roll up Lance for the pin after this move. Becoming the New MLW tag team champs. Overall this was an incredible match that saw nonstop action from bell to bell. It’s safe to say this match will be the end of the rivalry between the Samoan Swat Team and The Calling. Coming into this match Akira held the Middleweight title. After this match fans were calling him Akira two belt.

Kane vs Hammerstone

Prior to the event Saturday night Alex Kane took part in the media scrum I had the honor of being invited. He was asked the question “What does it mean to him to become MLW World Champion.”
Before the match, we found out just who the bankroll was of the Bomaye Fight Club. That person was none other than boxing- legend Don King. Just before the match a video was played showing King who informed Kane to bring that title back to him.
MLW World Heavyweight Title Match
Hammerstone has been nothing short of unbeatable over his 644-day reign as MLW World Champion. Alex Kane with his bomaye fight club has been a suplexing machine. This match is the infamous “The Irresistible Force Met The Immovable Object”. Alex Kane won the battle riot back in April giving him the chance to challenge Hammerstone at an event of his choosing. Kane chose this past Saturday at Never Say Never as his chance. This match was 22 minutes of on-the-edge-of-your-seat action. The near falls and finisher kick-outs during this match made this one of the better matches I have seen in all of 2023.
Both competitors were able to hit big moves from the top turnbuckle. Alex Kane hit a gut wrench suplex from the top turnbuckle. Hammerstone was able to hit a suplex of his own off the turnbuckle. The finish of the match came when Kane was able to catch Hammerstone with a rear naked choke. Forcing Hammerstone to the mat and securing back control locking his legs around Hammerstone’s waist leaving him no choice but to tap out. The pop of the crowd when the ref called for the bell after Hammerstone tapped was deafening, The 2300 arena came unglued. For Kane, it was a moment he dreamed about and he celebrated with his fight club members. The celebration was short-lived because Willie Mack made his way to the ring whispered something to Kane and left. What Mack’s intentions are we will find out in the coming weeks.
