National Lacrosse League (NLL) Retro Game Of The Week

Philadelphia Wings vs. Rochester Knighthawks

December 27, 2003

It’s the start of the Rochester Knighthawks 10th Anniversary season.  The Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York is where the game took place.  Randy Mearns, who was captain of the 1997 Knighthawks championship team, took part in the ceremonial faceoff, wearing his jersey from that season.

Rochester was coming off a 12-4 season, losing to the Toronto Rock in the Championship game, and were looking to be dominant in the upcoming year.

The Philadelphia Wings were coming off a mediocre 8-8 season, and were hoping to move to the upper echelon of the league once again.

The Wings had Tom Marechek, Jeff Ratcliffe, Keith Cromwell, Jake Bergey, Dan Marohl, and Ryan Ward for their offensive attack.

Rochester countered with John Grant Jr., Scott Evans, Shawn Williams, Jon Harasym, and Tim Soudan.

Pat O’Toole was in net for the Knighthawks against Dallas Eliuk for Philadelphia.

A new year brings new hopes!  Let’s see how these teams reacted to the challenges set forth.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy this game in it’s entirety!
