For all the stat lovers out there, below is a list of notable upcoming milestones for NLL players as the 2021-2022 season gets underway. Periodic updates will be published during the season, as milestones are accomplished or approached. The list in this article includes statistics compiled during Week 1 of the 2021-2022 season, but only covers league-wide all-time rankings. Future article updates may include milestones pertaining to franchise all-time rankings, when applicable.

Dan Dawson – F, Toronto Rock

  • With his Week 1 appearance, has played in 298 regular season games, 9 games shy of passing John Tavares (306) for 1st place all-time in league history
  • With two goals scored in Week 1, Dawson (529) passed Colin Doyle for 4th place on the all-time goals scored list
  • With one assist tallied in Week 1, needs 24 assists to pass John Tavares (934) for 1st place on the all-time assists list
  • Needs 8 points to pass John Grant Jr. (1,446) for 2nd place on the all-time points list

Ryan Benesch – F, Panther City

  • With two goals scored in Week 1, needs 7 goals to pass Mark Steenhuis (459) for 6th place on the all-time goals scored list
  • With two assists tallied in Week 1, needs 10 assists to pass Gavin Prout (621) for 9th place on the all-time assists list
  • Needs 88 points to pass Shawn Williams (1,152) for 8th place on the all-time points list

Shawn Evans – F, Rochester

Callum Crawford – F, New York

  • Currently in 10th place on the all-time points list (1,054), 11 points behind Ryan Benesch

Rhys Duch – F, Halifax

  • With four points tallied in Week 1, needs 4 points to become the 12th player in NLL history with 1,000 career points, and 18 points to pass Mark Steenhuis (1,013) for 11th place on the all-time points list

Dane Dobbie F, San Diego

  • With five points tallied in Week 1, needs 6 points to reach 900 for his career

Jeff Shattler – F, Saskatchewan

  • With two points tallied in Week 1, needs 47 points to reach 900 for his career

Curtis Dickson – F, Calgary

  • With five points tallied in Week 1, needs 32 points to reach 800 for his career

Mark Matthews – F, Saskatchewan

  • With six points tallied in Week 1, needs 35 points to reach 800 for his career

Dhane Smith – F, Buffalo

  • With nine points tallied in Week 1, needs 8 points to reach 700 for his career

Kevin Crowley – F, Philadelphia

  • With four points tallied in Week 1, needs 10 points to reach 700 his career

Corey Small – F, Philadelphia

  • With seven points tallied in Week 1, needs 21 points to reach 700 for his career

Jay Thorimbert – T, New York

  • With five loose balls in Week 1, needs 32 loose balls to pass Mark Steenhuis (1,641) for 5th place on the all-time loose balls list

Jeremy Thompson – T, Panther City

  • With two faceoff wins in Week 1, needs 2 wins to reach 1,800 for his career, and 294 wins to pass Jamie Hanford (2,091) for 3rd place on the all-time faceoff wins list

Jordan MacIntosh – T, Georgia

  • With eight faceoff wins in Week 1, needs 29 wins to pass Stephen Hoar (1,650) for 6th place, and 153 wins to pass Peter Jacobs (1,774) for 5th place on the all-time faceoff wins list

Mike Poulin G, Georgia

  • With 49 minutes played in Week 1, needs 782 minutes to pass Dallas Eliuk (9,715) for 5th place on the all-time goalie minutes played list
  • With 32 saves in Week 1, needs 667 saves to pass Dallas Eliuk (6,356) for 5th place on the all-time goalie saves list
  • Needs five wins to pass Anthony Cosmo (98) for 4th place on the all-time goalie wins list

Aaron Bold – G, Halifax

  • Needs 150 minutes to pass Steve Dietrich (8,341) for 7th place on the all-time goalie minutes played list
  • Needs 12 saves to pass Matt Disher (4,904) for 9th place, and 202 saves to pass Brandon Miller (5,094) for 8th place on the all-time goalie saves list
  • Needs five wins to pass Anthony Cosmo (98) for 4th place on the all-time goalie wins list
Gary Groob
Gary Groob

Gary Groob has been involved with Lacrosse for the majority of his life, whether playing, coaching, or covering the sport for the media.

An avid fan, with a real drive about helping to “grow the game”, Gary became part of podcasts about the game in 2010. Through the podcasts, Mr. Groob was given an opportunity to write about lacrosse, and the rest as they say, is history.

Through many miles (flying and driving) Gary has made inroads with the National Lacrosse League, Major Series Lacrosse League, the Ontario Lacrosse Association, as well as the Arena Lacrosse League, covering the leagues, their teams, and players, working for, and in concert with all of them.

In the year 2020, Mr. Groob was made the media person for the Arena Lacrosse League, voted onto the board of directors of the Brampton Excelsiors Lacrosse Club, as well as being made administrator of the Lacrosse page “Global Lacrosse” with a membership of 9000 members in over 90 Countries. Gary was also made an administrator of Lacrosse History Past Present and Future in 2022.

Mr. Groob co-hosts a weekly Lacrosse show on Spanglish Sports World, and ZingoTV channel 250, as well as writes a weekly lacrosse column for La Portada Canada News (both in print, and online).

Gary also hosts a Lacrosse talk show and podcast for The Edge of Philly Sports Network, seen live Sunday nights at 9pm (ET), and archived on the Edge of Philly YouTube page, as well as Spotify.

Mr. Groob’s other sports interests include Hockey, Football, Boxing, Wrestling, and Baseball, competing competitively in Boxing and Wrestling for many years.
