We have reached the final week of the 2021-2022 NLL regular season! Six of the eight playoff spots have been secured, but only two of those six spots are fully locked in. Every one of the seven games on the slate has important implications, from determining who wins the West Division, to which East team takes the Wild Card (#4 seed in the West), as well as positioning for the 2022 Entry Draft in September. Below are the possibilities for the teams still jockeying for playoff seeding or securing a spot in the postseason.
Halifax Thunderbirds (10-7, 3rd place East Division)

- Clinch the #3 seed in the East with a win over Rochester
Georgia Swarm (9-8, 4th place East Division)

- Clinch the #3 seed in the East with a win over Philadelphia AND a Halifax loss to Rochester
- Clinch the #4 seed in the East with a win over Philadelphia
- Clinch the Wild Card if they lose to Philadelphia AND Albany loses to New York
- Eliminated with a loss to Philadelphia AND an Albany win over New York
Albany FireWolves (8-9, 5th place East Division, current Wild Card)

- Clinch the #4 seed in the East with a win over New York AND a Philadelphia win over Georgia
- Clinch the Wild Card with a Georgia win over Philadelphia (regardless of the outcome of their game against New York)
- Eliminated with a loss to New York AND a Philadelphia win over Georgia
Philadelphia Wings (8-9, 6th place East Division)

- Clinch the #4 seed in the East with a win over Georgia AND an Albany loss to New York
- Clinch the Wild Card with a win over Georgia AND an Albany win over New York
- Eliminated with a loss to Georgia
Colorado Mammoth (10-7, 1st place West Division)

- Clinch the West Division with a win over Calgary
San Diego Seals (9-8, 2nd place West Division)

- Clinch the West Division with a win over Vancouver AND a Colorado loss to Calgary
Calgary Roughnecks (9-8, 3rd place West Division)

- Clinch the West Division with a win over Colorado AND a San Diego loss to Vancouver

“Muffler” Mike Kostiuk was formally introduced to box lacrosse when he attended a New England Black Wolves game on a whim in 2016. Instantly hooked, he has since become an avid follower of the National Lacrosse League. Following the postponement of the 2019-2020 NLL season, he was offered the chance to share his wealth of statistical knowledge and unique insights with the lacrosse community at large. He cheerfully accepted, and currently serves as Edge of Philly’s correspondent for both the Albany FireWolves and New York Riptide.
