No More Fun and Games for the Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies looking to get back on track after suffering a loss the night before. Rob Thomson looking to write the wrongs. The Phillies were up 5 to 2 after Cristoper Sanchez left the game. The Philly’s back-end bullpen would implode. Gregory Soto allowed a hit and a walk. Rob Thomson took a gamble by bringing in rookie pitcher Orion Kerkering to take Gregory Soto’s spot on the hill.

Rob Thomson was hoping to get some positive results, and it didn’t go the way Rob Thomson. When Orion Kerkering walked 2 batters, one of the batters walked in. Greg Kimbrel would replace Orion Kerkering. He gave up a home run to Alek Thomas (Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder). That’s why Rob Thomson was messing around. It was no more fun and games for the Phillies. The Phillies were all business. With the series being tied into two pieces. Rob Thomson wasn’t going to give this Diamondbacks team any momentum heading into South Philly.

Zack vs Zac Matchup

The battle of the Zack vs. Zac matchup part 2. Zac Gallen was looking to bounce back off the canvas after allowing 8 hits, 5 runs, and 3 Home Runs. Looking to turn the page at home. There wasn’t much of a difference because when it came time to face Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper up at bat. Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper were smashing the ball deep to right field. Philly’s offense, and game plan continue with the aggressive base stealing. They kept Zac Gallen’s head on a swivel, causing him to allow 6 hits, 4 runs, and 2 home runs.

Zac Gallen only had 1 strikeout in last night’s game. This was a different story for Zack Wheeler. Zach Wheeler put up 16 Ks in their last two meetings. His sinker, slider, and fastballs were a problem to deal with it. Whether at home or on the road. It didn’t matter Zach Wheeler was in his zone. Zach Wheeler struck out a pair with a couple of Diamondbacks batters like The Norristown local kid Christian Walker, Pavin Smith, and Evan Longoria. So far in the postseason, Zach Wheeler and Aaron Nola have 113 strikeouts.

Real Deal Realmuto

Too me. JT Realmuto has been the backbone this postseason. His numbers from the being of the postseason. Realmuto has 5 hits, with 3 doubles and 3 Home runs. I can’t name a better catcher who can play defense and zip the base runner going to second and gets tagged out. Plus, JT Realmuto brings a nice pop to the lineup, especially in the postseason.

He was a major component in the last postseason. In my lifetime, I have him on my MT. Rushmore of Phillies Catchers. Darren Daulton, Carlos Ruiz, Mike Lieberthal, and JT Realmuto. Opposing base runners really attempt to steal bases because of JT Realmuto’s arm.
