Well, that didn’t last long, the Phantoms were eliminated by the Checkers in the 1st round of the Atlantic Division Playoffs. Friday night the Checkers took it to the Phantoms hard 6-0. Officially ending all Flyers-related hockey for the 2022-23 season.

Charlotte used a 5-goal second period to steamroll the Phantoms. Sam Errson was victimized for all five of the goals in that period before being lifted in favor of Nolan Maier. Maier gave up one more goal in the third. The Checkers had six different scorers as they will now advance to face the Providence Bruins (Boston Bruins) in the second round of the Atlantic Division playoffs.

The Future
For the Phantoms it was a largely positive season. An AHL affiliate’s main goal is to supply the parent team or the NHL team. For the Phantoms players like Tyson Forester, Bobby Brink, Igor Zamula, Sam Errson, Elliot Desnoyers, Ronnie Attard, and Emil Andrae represent the future. That future is looking bright. It will probably be as early as this fall that we see some if not all in orange and black.
