Phillies Building Momentum Against the Dodgers

Phillies faced off against the LA Dodgers in South Philly this past weekend. The Philadelphia Phillies had good momentum going into this series after taking two out of three from the Washington Nationals and sweeping the Detroit Tigers. The LA Dodgers come into this series struggling, losing 3 out of 4 series against the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, and Cincinnati Reds. The Phillies continue building momentum over the weekend against the LA Dodgers.

Schwaberfest

It was all about the Kyle Schwaber effect as he found his momentum back in the leadoff position. Kyle Schwarber draws a walk to start the game. Kyle is second in the league in drawing walks. He has 8 walks behind Juan Soto of the San Diego Padres.

In the bottom of the third, Kyle Schwaber hits his first triple of the season. The Phillies took the early lead in this game. JD Martinez of the Dodgers battled back to tie things up at 4 a piece in the 8th inning. Then in the 9th inning, Kyle Schwaber hit a walk-off home run in dramatic fashion. That’s the 17th of the season. Phillies take a lead in the series 1-0 on Friday night.

CHicago Trip 2023

Making a Trip to the Woodshed

Saturday was not a good turnout for the Phillies as Aaron Nola continued to take the Phillies fans on this emotional roller coaster. Top of the third is where things started to get ugly as Aaron Nola got dinged up. Jason Outman hits a double, Mookie Betts with a single, and Freddie Freeman hits a double, and quickly the Phillies find themselves being in a hole down 2-0. A follow-up by David Peralta’s homer deep to right center field, putting the Dodgers up by 3

Mookie Betts drives in another run. Things got really sloppy for the Phillies defensively. Making fundamental mistakes throwing wild pitches. At that point, the offense was getting shown up by a rookie named Bobby Miller. 7k’s only giving up 3 walks and 3 hits. He has a .078 era. He’s playing with perfection. The Dodgers won this game easily, 9 nothing. LA ties the series up at one-all.

Answering the Bell

Phillies looking to answer back from Saturday’s sloppy game, and did they? Bryce Harper sets the tone of the game with an RBI single. Then, later on, Bryson Stott would come up with a hit, driving two runs. Phillies up early, 3-0. Just when it looked like the Dodgers were climbing back in this game with a Jason Heyward Homer. Nick Castellanos comes up with a two-run home run of his own.

And to put the icing on the cake, Kody Clemens drives in a run putting up the Phillies ahead 7-3. Tajwan Walker, who’s coming on as of late, tallie dup 8 k’s and 2 hits. The Phillies have won three straight series heading into the desert to face the Diamondbacks. This is the measuring stick to see what this team is made of truly. Let’s see if the Phillies continue building momentum against Arizona.
