Phillies Return To Action With A Dud

After coming off the all-star break, the Phillies have yet to wake and smell the coffee! What looks to be a promising weekend with Kyle Schwarber leading off Friday’s game with a first pitch, first home run of the game. However, that wasn’t the case. They got rocked this weekend by one of the bottom-feeder teams in the league. The Phillies return to action with a dud.

The Bad And The Ugly

Chicago Cubs put up 25 runs from this past weekend series. This felt like May Phillies baseball all over again! From sloppy starting pitching to errors in the infield, to leaving guys in scoring position to inconsistency bat swinging and getting ugly with the media. Remind you, Cubs “came into south Philly being 25th in pitching and 13th In hitting. This should have been a cakewalk instead of getting swept. Now that we got punched in the mouth. Hopefully, this franchise will answer the bell tonight! By letting frustrations out on the Braves! Being one game out of a wildcard spot with the St. Louis Cardinals sitting in front of them. The Phillies return to action with a dud

Time To Put Up Or Shut Up

This Is the sink or swim time! Phillies are currently 11th in hitting and 10th pitching, facing a team who’s had our number all season long. The last time we won against the Braves in a series was last year, June 8th to the 10th. The last time we swept Atlanta was back on our opening season of last year! However, the time is now! If we can get Ranger Suarez to play like he did last week and our bats can get to Max Fried early, it’s a tall order and being overly optimistic! Dealing with Max Fried is going to be no day at the beach! He’s 10-3, tied for the 5th most wins in MLB with a 2.64 era.

I think the Phillies are going to wake up and smell the coffee! I would like Rob Thompson and Phillies GM to make big adjustments to the lineup. Having Bryson Stott lead off, move Kyle Schwarber down to the clean-up spot! Moving Alec Bohm to DH and Derrick Hall to third! The Phillies need to pull out all the stops tonight! Like I said earlier in the post, Ranger Suarez needs to be in control of his command. Dealing with this ranked 4th offense, most importantly Austin Riley. His OPS is 7th in the league, tied at 3rd  in home runs (28), 9th in RBIs (63), and 5th in hits 109. As long as the Phillies can stay aggressive at the plate!  We can do this and finally have real exciting baseball again. The Phillies return to action with a dud.
