Phillies take on the Mariners. The Mariners coming into South Philly taking 2 out 3 from The Cardinals. The Phillies also took 3 out of 4 from the Rockies. 1st game did not go Philly’s way after dealing with a Hungary Mariners lineup even though Bailey Falter put up 7 ks Jarred Kelenic put a double and Homer to this point, PJ Crawford would drive in a run. The Phillies would answer back with Edmudo Sosa hitting a home run.
However, Mariner’s offense would tack on more runs with Teoscar Hernadez would rock two shot home run putting the Mariners up 4 to 1 Alec Bohm drove in Kyle Schwaber. With an RBI Jose Caballero would get his first big-league RBI Alec Bohm would continue his offensive power with a triple and Jake Cave would make some nice contact to drive in Alec Bohm however that would be the end of the game with the Mariners on top 5-3 in the game. Jarred Kelenic was the player of the game going 3 out of 4, and Nick Castellanos went 2 for 4
2nd game of the series. Nick Castellanos sets the tone of the game by going yard. but then Taijan Walker’s arm was giving him mechanical issues. He tried to battle through it but the Mariner’s offense could smell blood in the water. as PJ Crawford smashes a ball deep to left for a grand slam and then immediately right after Juilo Rodriguez would smack a solo home run. Putting the Mariners up 5-0 caused the Phillies to make a pitching change. Sending Luis Ortiz to take over on the hill. However, our fightin’ Phils were battling back! Kyle Schwaber would drive in Edmundo Sosa.
Bryson Stout would get his second hit of the night, Nick Castellanos would get three hits and three RBI JT Realmuto would tie up the game and Alec Bohm put the icing on the cake by driving in JT Realmuto with a base hit. The factor in this game was that the Phillies’ bullpen played really good fundamental pitching. locating their spots. 2k’s each. from all the relievers Luis Ortiz, Seranthony Dominguez, Craig Kimbrel, and Jose Alvarado
Its A Wrap
Game 3 was a quiet show. Not much offensive production. from either side. just a really good pitching duel between Matt Strahm and George Kirby. Matt Starham would record 5k’s and George Kibry recorded 7k’s, The only offense that was a difference maker in this game was Kody Clemens hitting a double to drive in a run. My interesting fact about this series is this Phillies bullpen only gave up 6 hits no home runs and 14 Ks.
