First Time Ever 7-Inning Games
As everyone knows by now the Phillies vs Yankees game that was scheduled for today has been moved to a doubleheader Wednesday due to Tropical Storm Isaias.
What you may not know is this will be the first time in MLB History that a 7-inning game will be implemented. The Phillies vs Yankees are set to start game one at 4:05 pm Wednesday afternoon. The second game will be started approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Phillies have their Aces on the Mound
The Phillies have their ‘Aces’ taking their home mound in Aaron Nola and Zach Wheeler at Citizens Bank Park, per Joe Girardi. We couldn’t have asked for a better situation. The Phillies need to start winning ballgames. The Yankees are a powerhouse and the Phillies have struggled as of late. If Joe Girardi and crew can’t right this ship. This season is all but over.

Last night in the Bronx, the Phillies lost to the Yankees, 6-3. Starter Gerrit Cole in 6 innings pitched only let up one run in a Jay Bruce Solo home run. Jake Arrieta pitched 5 Innings with 3 earned runs on 7 hits including two home runs. The Phillies were able to score 2 more runs in the 7th & 8th innings. However, by then the damage had been done.
The rest of the series, Games 2, 3, & 4 will be played in Philadelphia. Game 1 of 2 played on Wednesday will see the Yankees as the Home team. The Phillies will be the home team game 2 of the doubleheader. Followed by Thursday’s game with Starter Zach Eflin expected to get the Start. The Phillies then start a 3-game series versus longtime rival the Atlanta Braves in Philadelphia.
