The Phillies lose to the D’Backs. I mean they got swept. The season of discontent continues with has to be the low point of the 2021 Philadelphia Phillies season. Humbling is the word that comes to mind with this game and especially, this series. Dropping an entire three-game series to the worst team in the National League.

Zack Wheeler was a sacrificial lamb in this event with his 6 2/3 innings in which he allowed 6 earned runs off 7 hits a walk and 7 K’s in the humbling 6-2 defeat to Arizona. After falling behind, 6-0, Philadelphia could muster very little offense with Ronald Torreyes scoring on a fielder’s choice and the same Torreyes getting an RBI single.
Madison Bumgarner was dominant in his 8 innings….psst, hey Joe, pitchers can go more than six innings. Bumgarner walked 1 while striking out 5 and allowing, a grand total of three hits. The Philadelphia offense apparently never made the road trip. The Fat Lady continues to warm up but, Girardi will only use her for forty notes. The Phillies lose to the D’Backs.
