Here we go again. The Frenzied Five continue to, except for two, underwhelm.

With 19 games and a Covid break, the pack is finding their niche.

The San Diego Swami, Ross McLouglin continues to show why he is the defending Champ. And took his Magic 8 Ball.in for servicing in the down time and, leads the crew with a 14-5 record.

Our other West Coaster, Slick Shawn Slaght fought his way back and is challenging Mr. 8 Ball with his 13-6 offering.

Perhaps its something in the water or, the beer, as the East Coast contingent all battle it out with Mr. Busy, Gary, “how’s my hair” Groob, Muffler and Lube Job…
I ain’t Asking, Mike Kostiuk and the Philly Phenom, Kevin “You Can Call, Me Mike”, Neibauer all settle in with 9-10 marks.

Ok, Get Your Sheckles Ready

We kick off in the Used to Be Great White North with Mr. Everywhere at Christmas, the Silver Throated..Gary Groob.

Mammoth vs. Warriors

Vancouver wins

Both teams have been playing well, but I give a slight edge to the offense of the Warriors. Mitch Jones, Keegan Bal, Logan Schuss et all, have been clicking all year, and will test the Mammoth defense all night. Look for many shots from everywhere to test out Dillon Ward.

Georgia Swarm vs. Philadelphia Wings

Philadelphia wins

As much as I like the Georgia Swarm, I think the Wings are a total package if a team. From Trevor Baptiste on faceoffs, to Kevin Crowley leading a potent offense, to stellar goaltending of Zach Higgins. Look for a close game that favors the Wings.

Saskatchewan vs. Albany

Saskatchewan wins

The FireWolves have had a rough time of it so far, and this game won’t change their misfortunes. Look for Saskatchewan to pour it on early and often. I don’t think this will be a very close game.

Toronto vs. Buffalo

Toronto wins

These games are always close, and always rough, in this storied rivalry of these two perennial contenders.

The speed of the younger Rock Team will cause Buffalo problems, causing them some penalty trouble in transition. Throw in the scoring prowess of Rob Hellyer, Dan Dawson, Tom Schreiber, Reid Reinholdt, with Sheldon Burns, Aaron Forster, and Challen Rogers in transition and you have a long evening for Matt Vinc.

This will come down to the last few minutes…it’s the TSN game of the week for good reason!

Panther City vs. San Diego Seals

San Diego wins

I really want to see Panther City get their first victory in team history, but I would be naive to think it will come at the expense of a powerhouse in the San Diego Seals.

Dane Dobbie has been having a career year… Look for him and Casey Jackson to both have big games for the Seals.

Staying East With Muffler Mike

Mike climbed out from under a 1942 Edsel, scratched his head, then a private area and gave us this.

Week 6 (4? 😂) pickems
Vancouver. The Warriors continue to show that win or lose, they will not be the doormat of the West Division this year.

Georgia. It sounds ridiculous to invoke a sense of desperation for any team just 3 or 4 games into an 18-game season, but here we are. The Swarm need to keep pace with the currently perceived powerhouses in the East, and a hard-fought road win accomplishes that.

Albany. Sure, they looked flat and out of sync in their home opener. But they have also won 4 of their last 5 contests against the Rush dating back to 2016. Time to dig deep in the well and get off the winless wagon.

Toronto. These teams are so evenly matched, it should easily be the best game of the week. Road teams have a 12-7 edge so far this season – Toronto face dodges, swims, and crease dives over the border to try to keep that trend going.

San Diego. Conversely, expect this game to be the snoozer of the week. Seals simply have too much offensive firepower. PCLC continues to improve, but still has to wait a bit longer to get that first franchise victory.

We Go West

Shawn Slaght told me me that he spent a lot of time to figure out this week’s picks.

His entire 15 minute coffee break, truth be told. So without much further ado, since Shawn has to get back to whatever it is he does in the office he goes to.

Shawn’s picks

Colorado vs. Vancouver
Pick – Vancouver

The Warriors are finally finding their stride, while the Mammoth can’t seem to find their scoring touch. The only X-factor could be Dillon Ward, but that’s about all that will keep this game close

Georgia vs. Philadelphia
Pick – Philadelphia

Georgia is a bit of an enigma. On paper, they should be one of the top teams in the league, but something just isn’t clicking. Meanwhile, Philly is putting everyone on notice

Saskatchewan vs. Albany
Pick – Saskatchewan

Albany is a wounded animal trying to pick up the pieces and ripe for the picking. Question is what kind of goaltending will the Rush get from Adam Shute. Saskatchewan will rely heavily on they veterans in this one to pick up a close win.

Toronto vs. Buffalo
Pick – Buffalo

Take nothing away from the Rock, but the Bandits look unstoppable right now. If any team can give Buffalo a run for their money it’s Toronto. I think this will be a one or two goal affair with the Bandits barely coming out on top.

Panther City vs. San Diego
Pick – San Diego

Oh boy, not much to like about this game. San Diego is playing it’s best lacrosse and the expansion Panther City club is looking like, well, an expansion club. This game won’t be close at all.

On To Mr. Sand and Shore, Ross McLoughlin

Ross spent the off week getting a bikini wax, which took. Four days and putting his Magic 8 Ball in for its yearly check-up.

Thle Las Vegas books have been pestering LaxPhilly for these selections since Monday.

Colorado vs. Vancouver
Winner – Vancouver

Vancouver has been either RED hot or ICE cold. But I think the Warriors have a better Defense. Buque is SO huge in Goal the Mammoth wont be able to put it past him to many times.

Georgia vs. Philadelphia
Winner – Philadelphia

Philly just has too much firepower. Georgia is depleted still trying to find the right groove.

Calgary vs. Rochester

So nobody wins.

Saskatchewan vs. Albany
Winner – Albany

Albany is far from the Days when they were the Blackwolves, but they are going to muster some home field magic and put down the Rush who lost too much experience and replaced it with young guys.

Toronto vs. Buffalo
Winner – Buffalo

The Rock got Tom “Captain America” Schriber back but lost Dan Dawson to covid protocols. The Bandits are going to pull away early and just keep piling on the points, look for a career day from Connor Fields.

Panther City vs. San Diego
Winner – San Diego

I smell Mismatch, Panther City has not found any glue to put the pieces of the season together yet, and trading away one of the top scorers on the team midweek is not going to help, in return they got Johnny Pearson who is a big young body, but will he play against his former team is the question. San Diego has SO MANY weapons: Staats, Greer, Berg, Jackson, Dobbie, LeClair, O’keeffe. To top it off The seals have a Solid Defense. And after having over 2 weeks off the banged up Seals are looking healthy and Hungry. Don’t expect this to be close or very exciting, but if you want to see one team Dominate, then you’re going to get it. The Seals might be close to breaking a franchise record for goals in 1 game with this matchup.

At the moment you have been waiting for…well, my wife at least.

The Legend (In My Own Mind) the One, the Only, and Many are Grateful…the Soothsayer from Philly..yeah, despite the kicking and Screaming, I join in.

Colorado- Vancouver

Two surprise teams in the West..both teams are in the 2-1 logjam but, the Warriorls sneak a two goal win.

The Swarm is no longer your father’s Georgia team. Can Zach Higgins shake off his injury?

It won’t matter with the high powered Wings offense..

Saskatchewan in a cake walk. Albany simply lost too many weapons and will drop to 0-3.

Ross and I have differing reports on the availability of Tom Schrieber. He won’t make a difference but, this wil be a typical Buffalo- Toronto game.

Buffalo may be the cream of the NLL at this point.

To The other cream, Panther City- San Diego

San Diego

Panther City is a work in progress and will win 1pa few games. They are just not in the class of the Seals..
