As they say “The Draft starts in Mobile”, and today Senior College Football players across the nation tried to get on draft boards or rise their current stock. The North was coached by the Detriot Lions head coach Matt Patricia while the South had Cinncinati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. The North dominated 34-17 with great runningback play and an unstoppable pass rush.
The South looked great early on with Oregon QB Justin Herbert (The Games MVP) at the helm for the 1st quarter who was 9 for 13 for 83 yards and a TD in 1 quarter of work. He also rushed 22 yards diving for 1st downs. Check this screen touch down pass to Florida running back Michael Perine who rushed for 42 yards on 7 carries to put the South up 7-0.
The Half ended with the game tied 10-10 but you could see the Norths begin to take control of the game. Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts followed by Colorados Steven Montez had no answers for the North pass rush. The Utahs Bradlee Anae and Michigans Josh Uche along with Syracuse Alton Robinson all ATE with multiple sacks! After 3 the score was 24-10 North.
The quarterback play was solid for the North with a lot of dunking and zone reads to get down the field to get the job done. The wide receiver plays was pretty average with Quartney Davis of Texas AM (53 yards receiving) being the only wideout over 28 yards receiving. The real MVP should have been UCLA running back Joshua Kelley who had 15 carries for 105 yards. He was all over the field and had a touchdown called back too.
Well, it is another college season officially in the books. Off to the combine February 1st!
