Regretting Not Having Johnny Hockey

Are the Philadelphia Flyers regretting not having Johnny Hockey? Last night the Flyers got a wake-up call from the hometown golden goose.

A tale of Two Games

Theirs a big difference between playing a bad St. Louis Blues team. The Blues were coming off a 7 game-losing streak. They also were coming off a back-to-back game against the hottest team in hockey, the Boston Bruins. Patrice Bergeron, Trent Frederic, and Jake DeBrusk lit the lamp for B-town! St. Louis then heads south the next day to get rough up the Flyers in a five-to-one victory.

Felix Sandstrom stopped 27 out of 28 shots fired on the net. Wade Allison, Lukas, Sedlak, Owen Tippet, Travis Konecny, and Noah Cates took advantage of a bad team. Blues, prior to facing the Flyers, were averaging one point a game.

Regretting Not Having Johnny Hockey?

Now moving forward to last night’s game. The game opens with John Tortorella getting a standing ovation from the audience. However, it was number 13, Johnny Gaudreau, who really pleased the crowd. He was the first to score. Gaudreau followed it by causing the Flyers to make bad turnovers and racking up two assists. He set up defenseman Zach Werenski and captain Boone Jenner for their lamplighters.

Now the Flyers left opportunities on the ice. They were creating their own shot, but nothing really paid off. Joonas Korpisalo stop 32 out of 34 pucks. Flyers currently sit at the 5th seed in the Metropolitan division with the record 7, 4, 2, with a total of 16 points. We will see if the Flyers can bounce back to the win column. They will see for the first time in sixteen years, Claude Giroux comes into South Philly as the opponent. He’ll be coming into the Wells Fargo Center representing his hometown team, the Ottowa Senators.

The Return of Claude Giroux

Claude Giroux, on the season, has piled up 7 goals, 5 assists, and 12 points. This is the 3rd highest on the team. The two other guys that the Flyers have to look out for his Drake Batherson (4 Goals and 9 assists with 13 points), and Brady Tkachuk (6 goals, 10 assists, and 16 points). I think the Flyers should be able to learn their lesson from last night’s game. Don’t get to pass happy. Make adjustments, read what their defense is throwing at you, and attack the scoreboard early!
