Rounding Into Form Phinally

The baseball season is a marathon, not a sprint. From where the Phillies have started to where they’re at now is a huge leap. In the beginning, it was sloppy! Struggling with going 11 Wins and 11 Losses in April. Things got worse for the franchise as they lost 10 wins and 15 losses in May. On top of being 12.5 out of first. Philadelphians thought our summer sports scene was going to be atrocious, other than checking in on the Union. Signs pointed towards getting caught up on your favorite Netflix shows kind of season. Then in June, this team started rounding into form, Phinally!

Keeping Perspective

A lot of deficiencies in the early going! If it’s not the inconsistency of the bats or the lineup, it’s the dullness on defense. When the defense is not the issue, it’s the offense not having fundamental base running. If it’s not the base running, it’s the starting pitching looking ugly; if it’s not the starting pitching, it’s the bullpen costing games! All changed on June 3rd. Enter Rob Thomson.

Red Summer

All of a sudden, the Phillies went on a hot streak of 9 straight wins. The record for June ended up being 19 wins and 7 losses. The Phillies then left for a west coast trip through sunny San Diego. That trip featured Bryce Harper being hit on the hand by a pitch from Padres pitcher Blake Snell. Despite losing their top player, this team has managed to find themselves battling for a wildcard spot. The team is currently 8th in pitching and in hitting. Kyle Schwarber sits in 2nd behind Aaron Judge in homeruns. Didi Gregorius is in the top ten in triples. Kyle Schwarber is 4th in walks and Aaron Nola 5th in Strikeouts.
