Sin City Brings Out The Hunger Dogs In The Philadelphia Wings

The Philadelphia Wings get a much-needed 10-8 win over the Las Vegas Desert Dogs after losing three straight at home. This was a breakout game for Philly. I thought the defense played a lot better, with a little bit more physical style of play. I thought their zone defense was really good at the tail end of the 3rd and 4th quarters, Philly’s defense held Las Vegas to 16 or more minutes without scoring a goal. This was a much better game from Zach Higgins, as he stopped 36 out of 44 shots on net. Higgins was locked in keeping the Desert Dogs under double digits on the scoreboard. Let’s see if this win is a good confidence booster for next week in Calgary as the Wings will face the Roughnecks.

Mitch Jones, aka Mr. Facilitator

Mitch Jones set a new season-high with 8 assists in a single game. He counteracted everything Las Vegas was trying to throw at him on defense. It seemed like for the most part the Desert Dogs were trying to put double coverages on Mitch Jones, which led someone to be open on offense for the Wings to get an opportunity to score a goal. Mitch Jones is now second in the NLL with 39 assists.

Joe Resetarits Throwing Fireballs

Philly would have good ball movement and Joe Resetarits wasted no time. He scored a pair of goals from the corner pocket and few of them he took to the house, recording 5 goals total in the game. The Wings offense kept the Desert Dogs on their heels on defense between Jones, Resetarits, and Ben McIntosh. Las Vegas’ defense had to keep their head on a swivel, dealing with Philly’s high-powered offense and I love the creativity in the offensive zone. Let’s see if the Wings offense can keep the same energy for Calgary’s defense next week.
