Getting Started

The Generals came out hot on Saturday afternoon.  Just over a minute into the game, Trey Williams broke into the Stars’ secondary en route to a 61-yard TD run. Jersey would strike again late in the 1st completing a 13-play, 90-yard drive with a beautiful pitch and catch from Luis Perez to Alonzo Moore to put the Generals up 14-3 heading into the second.

The Stars began to heat up late into the half.  Case Cookus would hook up with his favorite target Bug Howard for one of the biggest plays of the game.  The play led to the Stars’ first TD of the day. Cookus went top shelf to Jordan Suell to cut the General’s lead to 14-10 heading into the half.

2nd Half Strength

The Stars kept it rolling into the second half.  This time Cookus found Chris Rowland on a screen pass.  Stars would take the early 2nd half lead 17-14. The Generals would hit the comeback trail.  Perez would quick strike to Darius Victor putting the Generals back up 20-17.

Finish Strong

The Generals’ QB kept his foot on the peddle into the 4th.  Unleashing a sick dime to Moore for the QB’s third TD throw of the day. The score was 26-17.

But the Stars who played have shown a never quit attitude all season long would not wilt in the early summer Alabama heat.  Matt Colburn would break into the open as he has done all season.  The score would pull the Stars within three 26-23.

A little trickery and the Stars found themselves back with the ball late in the fourth. But the Stars would come up short as the Generals would force a late quarter turnover sealing the deal for the Generals 26-23. With the win, the New Jersey Generals (9-1) will now face the Stars (6-4) for a third time this season next week. This is the second time in two weeks for the first round of the USFL playoffs in Canton OH. Time to tune up for the playoffs.
