The Flyers and The Maple Leafs’s Take It Down To The Wire

1st Period: The Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs were going back and forth, both teams trying to find the back of the net. However, Philly would answer with a short-handed goal. Travis Konecny was off to the races on a breakaway, however, he couldn’t make the goal but he picked up his rebound while being defended against the boards he found Travis Sanheim wide open in the offensive zone and he made a diving goal. That would be the difference maker in this game. If the Flyers can take this win in Toronto that would be huge to start their three-game road trip.

Hats Off To Austin Matthews

Austin Matthews was just unreal in the second period. He was found several times left wide-open for him to make some incredible goals. Mitchell Marner would make a pass out to Austin Matthews for his first goal. He followed up with a powerplay goal just when it looked like Sean Couturier was trying to get the puck out of Philly’s defensive zone. Timothy Liljegren would come up with the interception and send the puck over to Austin Matthews for his hat-trick of the night. It started to rain hats up in Toronto to celebrate Austin Matthews’s hat trick. He also played a very physical game in the second period on defense.

The Flyers Fought Back But It Was Enough To Finish The Job

Philly would battle throughout the rest of this third period. Garnet Hathaway would get the rebound off of Ryan Poehling and he would go 5 holes on Maple Leaf’s goaltender. Right after that, Travis Konecny would also make a nice rebounding goal which tied up the game and we would get some free hockey! Timothy Lijegren would make a pass to William Nylander and Nylander would hit a laser-like goal for the Leafs to win it in overtime.
