The Flyers are Back in the Win Column

This game looked to be a welcome back to South Philly for Oskar Lindblom party. However, that wasn’t the case at all. All this after the Philadelphia Flyers got shoutout by the San Jose Sharks, 3-0. Sharks goals were scored by Erik Karlsson, former Carolina hurricanes player Steven Lorentz, and Nico Strum. The Philadelphia Flyers get back in the win column.

Short Term Memory

San Jose Sharks were 1-6 prior and coming off back-to-back games. They traveled from North Jersey after facing the Devils. The only two losses that the Flyers have are off back-to-back games. It’s no excuse.

Fast forward to Thursday night’s game against the Florida Panthers. The Flyers fell behind early in the game. As a matter of fact, a little more than three minutes in, Gustav Forsling, a defenceman, riffles the first puck right underneath Carter Hart’s arm. Flyers quickly answered back with great passing from Joel Farabee to Travis Konecny.

Travis Konecny hits a backward pass to Tony DeAngelo for a wide-open look and cashes in with a top-shelf shot to even the game. Josh Mahura, the former Anaheim Duck, gets the rebound goal off of Carter Hart’s pads. Shortly after, the Flyers would go on a power play where they would see Travis Konecny create offensive plays. He found Scott Laughton open for the goal.

The Finale

In the second Flyers go right back to putting points on the scoreboard. Kevin Hayes would get his own rebound and passes out to Joel Farabee. Another top-shelf goal puts the orange and black up, 4-2. Brandon Montour from the Florida panthers would answer with a rebound and traffic in front of Carter Hart. Carter Hart couldn’t see where the puck was coming from, cutting the lead to one score, 4-3 Flyers.

Toward the end of the game, the Florida Panthers send the extra attacker out. The Philadelphia Flyers stood their ground and play tight zone defense. They are able to pull out a victory, 4-3. The Philadelphia Flyers get back in the win column.
