The Flyers Start the Second Half With A Solid Win Against The Caps

On Wednesday night, the Flyers began the back half of their regular season schedule. 41 games down, 41 games to go.   First up the front end of a home and home with the Capitals. 

The Action

The Flyers saw the Flyers get the upper hand and start the scoring.  Scott Laughton lit the lamp for his 10th of the season at the 7:26 mark of the 1st period.  The Caps tied things late at the 19:06 mark as Garnet Hathaway registered his 6th of the season.  TK would pull the Flyers back ahead later at the 19:27 mark it was TK’s 22nd goal of the season. 2-1 Flyers heading into the 1st Intermission

No goals were scored in the 2nd.  Into the third, the Flyers got back at it. Owen Tippett gives the Orange and Black a two-goal lead with his 13th of the season 3-1. Then shorthanded at 7:28, Travis Konecny with his 2nd of the night and his 23rd of the season. The Capitals would respond at 9:18 with Marcus Johansson with his 11th 4-2. TJ Oshie would get the Caps back within 1 at the 14:42 mark, 4-3 Flyers. A late push by the Capitals resulted in a Flyers power play, and Travis Konecny would plate his third of the game as an empty netter and his 24th of the season 5-3 Flyers. It would be TK’s 2nd career hattrick.
