The Gold Standard: Notre Dame vs Denver Pioneers

Notre Dame takes on the Denver Pioneers. The Irish look to set the gold standard in NCAA Lacrosse. Notre Dame is back in Philly to defend their NCAA championship. The Denver Pioneers want to make magic happen by knocking off the champs. Denver Pioneer would set the game’s tone with a nice goal from Richie McConnell.

Flyers Let Early Lead Slip Away, Lose to Capitals

Notre Dame would answer back with a goal, showing why the team to beat Pat Kavanagh gets the fighting Irish on the scoreboard, playing solid man-to-man defense coverage. Notre Dame would get a breakaway goal, followed by the Kavanagh brothers linking up for a goal. Pat Kavanagh found his brother Chris Kavanagh near the opposing goalie’s net for a goal.

The Notre Dame Staying Aggressive

The Pioneers started the second quarter with a wrap-around goal from Michael Lampert. Denver did a great job of spreading the ball around, and Stephen Aviary, with some space, shot a laser at the back of the net. Norte Dame continues to find success low near the opposing goalie, with Jake Taylor making a diving goal. Jordon Faison is showing he can do it all! Jordan Faison, is not only one of Notre Dame’s top wide receivers but an aggrieved playmaker for their lacrosse team, as he makes a goal with coverage and takes the ball to the hole.

Brothers Of Destruction

In the third quarter, Notre Dame scored a goal minutes into the quarter, with Patrick Kavanagh aggressively creating space. The Kavanagh brothers were becoming too much to handle for Denver’s defense, and both brothers recorded hatricks.
Notre Dame would stay on the attack, creating scoring opportunities or being aggressive. Devon McLane, down low, got a goal, and then Eric Dobson created his shot. Notre Dame started to stretch its lead.

Pioneers Gave It All They Could

4th quarter: Denver comes out, giving Notre Dame their medicine checking and making a goal. Notre Dame making their in-game adjustments on defense and sticking to their game plan. Devon McClane is cooking them on one coverage and gets his hat trick. Nick Harris would put the nail in the coffin. Most of this Denver Pioneers team were never in this position, giving the world champs all they could, leaving nothing to be ashamed of. We’ll see If Denver will be back next year.
