The North Carolina Tar Heels win big, 24-13. The Denver Pioneers (1-2) helped open the 2021 University of North Carolina Lacrosse Season Sunday afternoon.
In an eye opener, the ‘Heels exhibited blistering offense and put up 24 goals. How proficient was the offense? No fewer than 16 players registered points in this one.

Chris Gray led the way with six goals and a helper. Jacob Kelly and Nicky Solomon each notched a 3 goal 4 point day. Collin Krieg knocked aside 11 shots while allowing 6 goals. UNC used a second goal keeper, Caton Johnson, who wasn’t quite as successful and had only 2 stops while allowing 7 tallies.
For Denver, Jack Hannah hit twine 4 times and threw in an assist. Ethan Walker, Schuyler Blair and Jackson Morrill each posted three point days with a pair of goals.
Denver went to three netminders with Cole French stopping 9 chances but was victimized for 17 goals. Kaleb Stroman had 1 save on 4 chances with Jack Thompson victimized for 4 goals and zero saves.
