The perfect season ends in an 8-4 loss to the Mets. The New York Mets posted the first defeat on the 2021 Phillies with an 8-4 victory at Citizen’s Bank Park. The pitching, the biggest question mark entering the season finally imploded in the person of Vince Velasquez.

Chase Anderson went five innings giving up two hits and a pair of runs. Velasquez struck out the side in his first inning of work but, blew apart in his second with four walks. Vinny V continues to struggle and is the epitome of a bi-polar pitcher. Either very good or very not so good.
Didi Gregorius wowed the crowd with an absolute bomb to dead center field. Rhys Hoskins, another question mark entering the season smashed a long single that bounced off the left-field wall. The perfect season ends but let’s see if the Phillies can take the series.
The Phils and Mets go at it again Wednesday at 4:05 pm with Joe Girardi sending Aaron Nola to the hill. For more Phillies coverage click here.
