Philadelphia Union head up north to take on CF Montreal. (Philadelphia Union 2-0-1 6pts 5th in Eastern Conference) vs. (CF Montreal 0-0-3 0pts 13th in Eastern Conference). A strong 2022 season saw the Canadian side finish 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. Had Montreal fans excited for this year with high expectations for their team? That hasn’t been the case so far, as they are off to a very slow start in 2023 with a 3-game losing streak at the hands of Miami, Austin, and Nashville all on the road. Montreal has yet to score a goal this season. They look to turn it around Saturday night in their home opener, but it won’t be easy against a Philadelphia squad that has only allowed three goals on the year to go along with three clean sheets in a row.

Philadelphia @ Montreal
On Tuesday night, the Union finally showed what they are capable of for a full 90 minutes putting it on Alianza FC 4-0 with goals from Damion Lowe, Daniel Gazdag, and Andre Perea twice. The boys in blue look to carry that momentum into this weekend’s matchup when they head to Canada. Philadelphia is 5-0-1 in their last six games vs. Montreal, The last win coming early on in 2022 with a 2-1 victory over the impact. The Philadelphia Union head up North.
Prediction
With Jim Curtin saying today that next week vs. Orlando, “Philadelphia could be without 8 or 9 players due to international play,” makes these 3 points more important. With what seems to be a Philadelphia team that is finally getting its footing under them. I expect a win against a struggling Montreal team. UNION 2 doops to zero.

Injury Update
Union fans got some good news in regard to goalkeeper Andre Blake’s Grade 1 adductor strain. In his press conference today, Head Coach Jim Curtin said, “Of all the news we could’ve gotten, that was as good as it could get.” No timetable has been set for his return.
