The Union Putting the MLS On Notice

The Philadelphia Union hosted their most formidable challenge yet, Minnesota United. Until today, they have not tasted defeat, but today, not only have they tasted defeat, but they got a mouth full of it. They were shut out today by the U ion. Philly has been on a role in back-to-back games. They brought tons of offensive pressure and kept Minnesota on their toes. Jim Curtain (the Philadelphia Union head coach) devised a great game plan: facing off against Minnesota. Even when Andre Blake went down, Oliver Semmle stepped up and played well between the posts. The Union are playing red hot soccer right now, let’s see if they can handle business in Nashville next week.

Juliann Carranza Ice In His Legs and Fire Out Of His Feet

In these back-to-back games, Juliann Carranza has been on fire for the Union, wrapping up three goals in both games. Last week, he put up two goals. The first one last week was a header goal through traffic; in the second one, he beat the defender. Today, he gets the header pass by midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, and Juliann Carranza rips one to the back of the net. Juliann Carranza has been sharp as of late, and now we’ll see if we can bring the same energy down to that tough Nashville defense.

Daniel Gazdag Sets The Tone Of The Game

Defender Kai Wagner does a great job from the corner directing teammates where to go in the set-piece formation. He finds Daniel Gazdag through traffic and makes a nice goal between two defenders. Gazdag records his third goal for this season. He’s been deficient near the opposing goalkeeper, especially since he’s dangerous in penalty kicks. Daniel Gazdag led the MLS with 11 penalty goals last year. This Union team is firing on all cyders right now.
