The Waking Giant Drops 70 Points

The San Antonio Spurs have lost 4 out of 5 games on this eastern road trip. Joel Embiid has been a waking giant since coming back from his injury. Embiid went off the rails tonight by dropping 70 points on this Spurs team. He made history that night. He single-handedly takes care of this Spurs team. Embiid also had 18 rebounds: 9 offensive boards and 9 defensive boards. He was a one-man wrecking crew. The rest of this Philadelphia 76ers team didn’t have to do much. The Spurs defense tried to stack the paint with defenders and that meant nothing to Joel Embiid as he came crashing into the rim.

The Big Man Showdown

The rookie center for the Spurs, Victor Wembanyma, came to play. He didn’t drop 70 points, but Victor put up 33 points and 7 rebounds. He’s averaging 25pts game, he’s a major piece moving forward with the Spurs. I liked what I saw from this rookie. If the Spurs built around him with the right personnel, the Spurs can be right back in the thick of things. Devin Vassell (The Spurs shooting guard) also dropped 22 points in this game, which would be the majority of the Spurs offense.

Silent But Effective

Tyrese Maxey had a quiet but effective night. He was scoring in transition, taking the ball to the rim. He made a couple of nice three-pointers. Tyrese Maxey was quarterbacking on the floor, directing players where to go. Maxey had 18 points in this game, and he also had 8 assists throughout the game.

Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid have become a one-two punch, plus the commentary pieces around them help out. Now the one thing that i loved more then anything about this team is their chemistry on and off the court, were going to see a lot of team bounding coming up as they spent a week on the road.
