Tobias Harris or Not Tobias Harris, That is the question! He averages 20. PPG, 7.3 REB, and 3.1 AST. His defense is at a level we haven’t seen in his career. Will Tobias Harris make the 2021 NBA All-star Team?
It would mean a lot. When I was in L.A., I thought for sure I was playing at an All-Star level. The team was playing for first in the West, and then about a month before All-Star, the team slipped down to about seventh and I missed the game. I felt I didn’t make the game because we weren’t a top team in the West. But here we are this year sitting at No. 1, I’m playing the best basketball of my career. So it would mean a whole lot, that the work I put in, the time and due diligence I put toward the game and my body and a good teammate and a player, is paying off. I’m playing at that level consistently. It would be great to be rewarded for that.

The Competition
It might mean a lot to him but is he on par with the competition? Take a look at the current votes from the fans.
Not in the Top 10! We all know the fan vote is a popularity contest so where does Tobias rank among other Eastern Conference forwards? According to ESPNs Hollinger Stats, Tobias ranks 7th in PER (Player Efficiency Rating) in regards to power forwards in the East. His 20 points per game rank 5th for power forwards in the the East. Check who is above. Do you think Tobias beats out any of the players above him here?

How does NBA All-star voting work?
Per NBA.com, the 10 starters are two guards and three frontcourt players per conference. The combination of fans (50 percent of the vote), current players (25 percent) and basketball media (25 percent) make up the starter vote. The 30 NBA coaches select the 14 reserves, voting for two guards, three frontcourt players and two players at any position in their respective conferences. This leaves 3 potential spots with a possible 5 spots depending which positions said coach wants to select for the extra 2 spots.
There is a potential caveat in which Commissioner Silver could select him as a replacement player. This could be even more likely due to other years with players potentially opting out due to Covid.

Tobias Path
The clear path for Tobias Harris is via the reserve vote through the coaches. He is a well respected player but doesn’t have any room to fall off down the stretch. He also has the backing of Doc Rivers who could make a few calls for the “Vote Tobias” campaign. The major advantage Tobi has is that he is on a winning team and possibly the 1 seed in the East come Allstar weekend. NBA All-Star voting for the 2021 ends tomorrow 11:59 p.m. ET. The All-Star starters will be announced February 18th, with the reserves coming February 23rd.
Does he get in? I was on and off the fence but after further review, I say Yes. Tobias Harris makes the 2021 NBA All-star team.
