Trade Deadline Blues

EVERY WORD I SAID in the video (below) that I posted yesterday…. FORGET IT! This Phillies team right now has zero fight in them.

There is not one aspect of play that tells us this team can turn things around to even contend for a SECOND Wild Card position. Bats are down. Pitching is horrendous. Lazy Defense. Managements Boneheaded decisions. They have absolutely nothing worth watching at the moment. Unless you’re a fan of the opposition of course.

With the Trade Deadline looming, we have to believe that after the Split with the Dodgers along with the recent road trip that this very series against the Braves would tell us not only if they can truly make a run at the postseason but simply where they stand as Buyers or Sellers getting closer to July 31st. Would it shock me for the Phillies to become buyers? Not per se but it depends on the acquisition. A rental? HELL NO! I could see a Pitcher or two that the team would be interested in as long as they have contract control following this season, for the right price.

Who is that player? Who knows? Some teams tend to trade quality for peanuts at this time of the year especially with this being the only trade deadline of the MLB season. Would it shock me to see the Phillies stand pat now at the deadline? Absolutely Not. If I’m being honest. The “Homer” in me is damn near broken. It’s sad. It pains me to say that. It is gonna take something drastic to happen for my heart to get back in it. I assume that goes for most fans as well. There comes a time where you just have to be realistic. No matter how much you love a team. Things aren’t looking great. Hell, things aren’t even looking good at this point. The only thing I can say for certain. This Phillies team needs to find that spark and get the fire burning again.

The fight to just not roll over and die. This is Philadelphia. Philly doesn’t quit. “It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” – Robert “Rocky” Balboa Sr.
