Bedoya and Uhre netted 2 a piece which was accompanied by solid midfield play and excellent defense by the likes of the MLS midseason Defender of the Year Jack Elliot and his partner at Center Back Jakub Glesnes. Goalkeeper Andre Blake made some amazing saves in the second half to keep the clean sheet. The big spot of the match was Julian Carranza. This is his first-ever brace and hat trick with a beauty of a bicycle kick for his second of the match.

With the 3 points earned in DC, the Union keep themselves in a close fight for first place in the Eastern Conference with teams like New York Red Bull and NYCFC. This was a much-needed win for a club that leads the league with 9 draws. This was also the first match without forward Sergio Santos as he was traded to FC Cincinnati early Friday.
