Vinny V. Steps Up

Vinny V. steps up in 2-0 victory. Vince Velasquez went 6 innings allowing just 3 hits, walking three while striking out five in his best start, not only of the season but his career. Phillies win against the fish.

Velasquez only faced one issue with issuing back-to-back free passes in the third but showed what up to then was uncommon poise and worked out of it with zero damage. Sandy Alcantara actually was a tad better for Miami with an 8 inning, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and four K’s performance.

Jean Segura had a hit. The streaking Rhys Hoskins provided all the offense with a two-run 4th inning home run. The whole, “he is getting a rest sometimes that helps” was a ruse. It seems as Bryce Harper has been placed on the Injured List. Does that supply an answer to his slump? Vinny V. steps up but can it continue.
