Whipsnakes Win As Chrome’s Woes Continue

The Whipsnakes dominated 12-5 on Saturday afternoon as Chrome’s woes continue in PLL action at Homewood Field in Baltimore.

Petey LaSalla had a huge game at the “X” for the Whipsnakes. He went a perfect 20 for 20 and added in 19 ground balls.

A bright spot for Chrome was rookie Cross Ferrara, who had three of Chrome’s four goals in the first half.

The win keeps the Whipsnakes back in the mix in the standing with a record of 3-4. Meanwhile, Chrome sits at 1-6 with a -23 goal differential.

Whipsnakes Jump Out to a Big Lead

The Whipsnakes got on the board first with Michae Ehrhardt with the long pole finding the back of the net with 11:35 on the clock.

Ferrara tied up the game at 9:51. With a defender all over him, he was able to score from the doorstep of the crease to make it 1-1.

Mike Chanenchuk with a bouncer at 7:29 gave the Whipsnakes the lead and started a four-goal run.

Connor Kirst would then score 26 seconds later to put the Whipsnakes ahead 3-1.

Brad Smith scored a highlight goal with 4:38 remaining. He pivoted around a defender and switched to his opposite hand for the goal.

Will Manny rounded out the four-goal run on the power play at 3:29 as the Whipsnakes led 5-1.

Jordan MacIntosh scored on the power play with seven seconds left in the quarter to make it 5-2 at the first intermission.

Chrome Make It Close

Chrome would make a match of it in the second quarter as they outscored the Whipsnakes 2-0.

Ferrara struck with 6:07 left in the quarter and scored again at 2:37 as Chrome was down 5-4 at the half.

Whipsnakes Dominate The Second Half.

The Whipsnakes put the game away by dominating in the second half. They outscored Chrome 7-1 in the final 24 minutes.

Manny opened the scoring at 6:39 with a low bouncer. Then Kirst found the back of the net with a low-to-high shot to make it 7-4.

Zed Williams put the Whipsnakes up by four with 54 seconds left in the third quarter. Chanenchuk finished off the scoring eight seconds later as the Whipsnakes led 9-4 heading into the fourth.

Chanenchuk struck again in the fourth with a beautiful twister 8:25 into the frame to put the Whipsnakes up 10-4

MacIntosh finally for Chrome back on the board at 6:25 on the power play. However, Chanenchuk added a two-point goal to make the final 12-5 as Chrome’s woes continue this season.
