Wideout Options for the Eagles

Wideout Options for the Eagles. I know what you’re thinking. With what money? Look, if there is one thing Howie Roseman is good at it’s creating money for the Eagles each offseason. Even in the “cap hell” we see ourselves in now. I really think this offseason will be no different.

A handful of names stand out when you look at the list of players expected to hit free agency. Four of the five are currently in the playoffs fighting for a Lombardi trophy. Trading for one of these guys would also take the pressure off the Eagles to draft a Wideout in the first round once again.

Instant Upgrade

Bears WR Allen Robinson: It’s hard to believe that Robinson is still only 27 years. Robinson is having one of his best seasons (102 Rec, 1250 Yds, 6 TDs) and it has gone completely under the radar. The 7-year(!) Vet should for sure be towards the top of the Eagles wish list if not the very top.

Lions WR Kenny Golladay: Wouldn’t it be such a Howie thing to do to sign an unfortunately often injured Wide Receiver. However, the reason he is on this list is that there is no denying the talent of Golladay. Great size, Great Hands. Detroit is heading into this offseason with a ton of decisions to make and resigning Golladay could fall to the waste side. One team’s misfortune is another team’s opportunity.

Buccs WR Chris Godwin: This one right here for me is the pipedream. Much like Allen Robinson, Chris Godwin came out of Penn State and was an instant contributor on the field. Godwin may become the odd man out. The Buccs will have to make decisions on bringing back Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown. Two of Tom Brady’s very good friends. It’s very possible Chris may be on the outside looking in and looking for a new home. At only 24-years-old, this speedy receiver (IMO) should be at the very tippy-top of the Eagles list.

Colts WR TY Hilton: The Colts have a boatload of money to spend this offseason. The problem lies with will Phillip Rivers return or rides off into the sunset. The Colts could see themselves into the market for a new franchise QB (Cough, Cough, Carson Wentz). Hilton is having a down year and with the emergence of Michael Pittman. Indy could turn their sights towards the draft for another speedy downfield threat.

Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster: This one could be a bit of a reach. I would be shocked if Pittsburgh let JuJu walk. Big Ben is expected to return in 2021 at age 39. Although, the Steelers are in a bit cap situation themselves all things point toward Smith-Schuster to return. Crazier things have happened so I guess there is always a chance. I wouldn’t bet on it though.

Whether it’s the NFL Draft or Free Agency the Eagles NEED to upgrade their receiver corp. I can not stress that enough. Alshon and DeSean are expected to be released. Outside of Greg Ward, the rest of the Eagles wideouts are young and developing. Adding one of the aforementioned names above would help solidify a position the Birds have been so dire in for years now. Fingers crossed.
