Wilkes Barre- Scranton Handles Phantoms, 4-1

Fresh off the All Star break, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (18-22-7) went into upstate Pennsylvania to battle the baby Penguins (23-16-7).

The Pens jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with Jake Lucchini combating a bouncing puck and beating Phantoms netminder, JF Berube at the 6:14 mark of the first.

The lead would double just forty six seconds later when Jan Drozg caromed a shot off Berube from behind the Lehigh Valley cage.

Kyle Criscuolo intercepted an outlet pass and hit Andy Andreoff in stride at the 12:00 mark to close it to a one goal affair, 2-1.

Neither team could light the lamp and the curtain came down on a 2-1 contest.

The Penguins fired 16 shots at Berube but only managed a single marker with Lucchini converting a one time from the right face off dot.

Wilkes Barre- Scranton went to final period holding momentum and a two goal edge at 3-1.

Sam Lafferty cut left to right from in tight and pushed the lead to 4-1.

The tally meant nite nite time for Berube and Felix Sandstrom logged his first AHL minutes in relief.

Sandstrom has been called up from Reading of the ECHL due to Alex Lyon being utilized by the parent Flyers.

Shots on go favored the home team, 34-30 with Pens netminder Casey DeSmith stopping 29. For Lehigh Valley, Sandstrom stopped all 7 shots he faced and Berube knocked away 23 of 27.
