The evaluation of the 2022-23 season took an optimistic turn on Tuesday night in South Philly. The Columbus Blue Jackets came to town sporting a 1-0-1 record against the Flyers this year. In a year that nothing has gone right for the Johnny Hockey lead Jackets. CBJ entered the night with 11 players currently on the IR and sporting the worse record in the Metropolitan Division.
The Flyers lead by their young core of 25 years old or younger, battled their way to a 5-3 win over the cellar-dwelling Blue Jackets.
Travis Konecny buried a pair of pretty goals (13,14). Morgan Frost (6) and Owen Tippett (9,10) also found the back of the net for the Flyers. The Flyers entered the game with 77 goals scored and 105 goals allowed.
Carter Hart was shaky at times but came up with the win. With the win the Flyers close out the home portion of the 2022 calendar year, they have also won two of their last three which is notable because before that they were 2-11-5 in the previous 18 games.
