Zach Ertz: It’s Time To Move on – By Howie’s move on Monday, the signing of Ryan Kerrigan, it sure seems like the Eagles are more into a retool “win now” mode rather than a rebuild. And, I couldn’t be happier.
What’s next? Well, I think it’s obvious. Howie needs to just get this done and trade Zach Ertz. It’s time. Reports were out Monday that Zach will not attend any of the Eagles offseason programs until his situation is figured out by either trade or release.
Zach Ertz Value?
What’s rumored? The Arizona Cardinals seem to have a bit of interest in Ertz. While also looking for a trade partner for a familiar name, Jordan Hicks. Could we see a player swap? This trade just makes all too much sense. Hicks being added to an already upgraded Linebacker position would give another big boost to our Defense. Ertz would be added to an already bolstered Arizona offense behind Kyle Murray.
With the signing of Eric Wilson, resigned and emerging Alex Singleton, and Solid depth in TJ Edwards. I personally feel very optimistic about our Linebackers already. Jordan Hicks would just be the icing on the cake.
I would rather see Ertz be traded for a Cornerback. Much like the Jordan Matthews and Ronald Darby trade. The Eagles are in desperate need of a corner to play opposite Darius Slay. There are options out there but perhaps Zach can draw a bigger better name via trade for the Birds. Wishful thinking but we’ve seen stranger things happen.
Either way, the writing for Zach Ertz is on the wall. I love Zach. Truly do. However, with what is basically a fresh start for this Eagles team. The fewer distractions the better in my opinion. Ertz will forever undoubtedly go down as an Eagles great but (sadly) it’s time to move on.
